DOORWAY

The main doorway, the oldest part of the building, is carved in coloured stonework and emblazoned with the beautiful coat of arms of the Order of Santo Domingo. It combines Gothic-Renaissance and Mudejar elements, evident in the moulding that, like an alfiz, frames the arch of the upper window and the doorway. The capitals are decorated with medieval bestiary themes: monstrous animals, naked warriors with masks or grotesque crescents as shields. This beautiful work is attributed to the stonemason Hernando Luján between 1530 and 1532. Next to it is the small doorway of the Chapel of the Rosary from the beginning of the 18th century, crowned by the coat of arms of the anagram of Mary.
